Some Kosmotrup units assigned to high threat regions, or that have signficantly distinguished themselves in combat are upgraded to carry Gauss Rifles. This gives the unit considerable stopping power, and makes even elite troops think twice before engaging. A combination of stellwart conviction and a weapon that can punch through an inch of reinforced steel is enough to make all but the most foolhardy or prepared of commanders reconsider their options.
